Class 4 Readings Defining Multimedia

Multimedia refers to the myriad ways information can be presented. For me, as a teacher, that means PowerPoint, webpages, videos, wikis and podcasts. I hope to learn and implement more new ways of sharing information with my students and to teach them new tools with which they can share what they are learning.

I agree with you that multimedia can be a myriad of ways in which information can be presented. In addition to this, however, I feel that it should not just be about presentation and information acquisition but more importantly it should be about creating new information. Our students need to be able to produce rather than continually consuming information.

Multimedia can be presented in many different formats. I think we are all aware of the basic forms of multimedia that come as packages on our computers. I have enjoyed this class, because we have broke free from the elements of our own safety zones, and learned new technologies that we can implement into our future lessons. It is important to not teach the technology, but to embed the technology into our lessons.
